John began his musical adventure, on the trumpet at the age of 8. By 10, he realized that drums were his true passion and begged his mom for a swap meet snare drum. John grew up in the early Orange County punk scene, playing with the likes of TSOL, The Crowd and Mike Ness. At 18, John traded in the punk lifestyle for a 4 year Navy stint and a world tour.
As the president of welfare and recreation for his command, John realized that he had a knack for event planning and combined his love for music with his flair for management. John played drums and managed the San Diego band Hate Romance in 1990 during the height of the San Diego music explosion , resulting in a development opportunity with Sony in 1994. Hate Romance played with The Spin Doctors, Blind Mellon and was booked with Smashing Pumpkins, among others.
John started Jukebox in in 2006, with the goal of creating a fun and exciting professional band that would have the energy of a live band with the versatility of a DJ. "We were competing heavily with DJ's at the time and I realized that by putting together a live band with a DJ, we could eliminate the debate!"
